Lena Wolek Documentary

Lena Wolek grew up on the shores of Lake Baikal in Siberia, where her grandmother worked in a ceramics factory. Years later, after moving to the United States to study art, Lena found her way to pottery herself.

We developed the film after meeting Lena and becoming drawn to the connections between her childhood, her lineage, and the work she creates today. The result is a quiet portrait of an artist whose creative life brought her, unexpectedly, back to something that had been part of her story all along.
