We start with what people need to be able to do, then work backward to determine what they need to know, practice, and apply along the way. We consider what they already know, where they’re likely to get stuck, and what will help them use what they’ve learned in the real world.

The solution might be eLearning, employee onboarding, corporate training, instructional videos, interactive simulations, instructor-led programs, job aids, performance support, or something designed specifically around the need. Every decision, from what we include to how people practice and apply it, is grounded in instructional design and the science of how people learn.
